Nao Tomori is a main character of Charlotte and the Student Council president of Hoshinoumi Academy, where she leads missions to protect teenage ability users from exploitation. Raised by a single mother, she witnessed her older brother Kazuki – a musician with the power to vibrate air – being driven insane by scientists at a boarding school that had been secretly experimenting on him. Traumatized and unable to trust, Nao uses her camcorder to document abilities and her cloaking power to disappear from sight. She is hardworking yet narcissistic, short-tempered yet deeply caring, especially toward children. She becomes the emotional anchor for Yuu Otosaka after his sister's death and guides him from despair with tough love and shared grief.
